A severe allergic reaction (anaphylaxis) can be life-threatening if not recognized and treated immediately. Anaphylaxis occurs suddenly after contact with an allergen. Some common allergens include medicines, latex, foods, and stinging insects. In anaphylaxis, 2 or more body systems are involved. Epinephrine is a drug that can temporarily relieve the life-threatening problems caused by anaphylaxis. Auvi-Q is one example of a prescription epinephrine autoinjector. The injection is given in the side of the thigh, about halfway between the hip and the knee. It can be given on bare skin or through clothing. Watch this video to learn how to use Auvi-Q!
"From Training to Action: A CPR Survivor Story" // “De la Capacitación a la Acción: La Historia de un Sobreviviente que recibió RCP” On August 16th, 2025, Carlos and Reina took a Red Cross certification CPR/AED/First Aid course along with other members of their community from "Iglesia Pacto de Amor". One week after this class, Carlos suffered sudden cardiac arrest. He received high-quality CPR from his family who called EMS right away. He's alive and well ready to share his testimony with his wife, Reina, to raise awareness on learning these life-saving skills. This is a glimpse of their story...
